How Do We Make “Bad” Art?

This top photo was an attempt at an unfocussed image, but I really like the way the flash caused the light to reflect.  The circles and ovals of light contrast with the linear nature of the diagonal.

The image below was an attempt to reproduce the clichéd “feet” image (so prevalent a few years ago).  The lines in the stairs and the shadow from the handrail however, created an interesting geometric quality.

So what is a “bad” image? Clearly this exercise was all about beauty (art?) being in the eye of the beholder. It was challenging to try to create something “bad”. It’ll be interesting at the end of this process to see how many “bad” shots end up being my favourite visual images.

Both images shot with a Samsung Galaxy s5, with no additional editing/post-production.
